Activity 1: What do Consumers Want?

In such a competitive and rapidly evolving market, it is important that educational app developers consult teachers, students, parents and educational researchers to ensure that their app concept is addressing the right problems and is designed to meet the needs of the intended users.  The following survey has been adapted from Lee and Churner (2015) and Apple (2015). It is intended to be completed by educators and can be used as a template on which developers base their consultation process. Please take a moment to complete this survey from the perspective of a consumer in the education field.

Mobile Educational App Consumer Survey

Upon completing the survey, please post a brief comment on the Activity 1: What do Consumers Want? page of the Week 11 Opportunity Forecast Forum. How did this activity make you reflect on features you want in an mobile educational  app?  Did you find it difficult to rank some of the features?  Conducting surveys is just one way to collect information about consumer wants.  Can you think of others? What are the strengths and weaknesses of these methods?

You will use the results of this survey to inform your decisions and discussion in Activity 3: Evolving the Product.  The results can be accessed at Mobile Educational App Consumer Survey Results.

Successful completion of this activity will award you with our first badge.
