Opportunities for Educational Apps is a collaboratively-authored Open Educational Resource (OER) created for the course ETEC 522: Ventures in Learning Technology in UBC’s Master of Educational Technology program and was designed by:

Jaclyn is high school math and science teacher in northern British Columbia. Through BYOD programming and the adoption of Office 365, Jaclyn has been able to provide learners with more effective and personalized educational experiences.

Mary is a former college educational manager and currently a part-time courthouse librarian.  She sometimes helps her software-developer husband which brings her into the business side of apps.

Dan is an elementary school assistant principal and grade 5 teacher in Calgary who often supports his colleagues in the authentic use of mobile learning technologies in the classroom.

Osayma is a mother of four kids who sees that apps can offer an excellent educational opportunity in a war torn country, where many schools have been destroyed and many many teachers left the country. Osayma is working currently on a project to afford education for Syrian refugees through mobile apps.

Caleb is a grade 5 teacher in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta who regularly enjoys introducing new technologies to his class. His classroom features 1:1 Chromebooks, which allows him to seamlessly weave the benefits of  technology into his everyday teaching practice.
